That being said, it has been great, use it every single day. The grill sometimes smokes up my kitchen though I don't really use it anymore except as a spare tray when I'm washing the other one

I logged in only to add my +1 for this device. It makes perfect meat every time with very little margin for error, especially with the thermometer. Closest thing to set-it-and-forget-it grilling I've used.
This seems like a horrible deal to me.

This Ninja is a direct impingement high velocity "air fryer". It heats up a somewhat heavy grate that does a decent job of scorching a burger or steak, while cooking it quickly with minimal smoke.
It's a nice, easy way to "grill" a burger if you're unable or too lazy to fire up an outdoor charcoal or gas grill.
But, unless you're living alone, I'd get the XL. And this price is high.
