so this is my cheap let's fix this old beater up almost like new. change oil, trans fluid, air in tires, air filter, et al; assume people are almost brain dead and you'll get the picture. nothing much surprises me anymore, nothing. or take a chance and see what happens, and it will happen. YMMV.

Chevron Techron High Mileage is a fuel system cleaner aimed at older cars, especially for keeping injectors and the rest of the fuel system cleaner between maintenance intervals. It is described as useful for used cars, GDI engines, and vehicles that do not always run Top Tier gas, with some noting it can smooth rough running and is part of Hyundai maintenance schedules. The main limits are that it will not clean direct injection intake valves, and newer cars may not need the High Mileage version. Price is the other sticking point, with repeated calls that the deal is still too high and that similar bottles often sell for less.
Common Questions (5)
At about $7.50 per bottle, several comments call it overpriced, and similar bottles reportedly go on sale for about $5-$7 elsewhere. One tracker-based comment says this is the lowest price in 3 months, but it is still not considered a standout deal.
Top Tier gasoline already contains detergent, so the cleaner is less necessary if you always buy Top Tier fuel. It is more useful when you regularly use non-Top Tier gas or cheaper stations with less detergent.
It can help clean injectors and fuel-system deposits, but it does not reach direct-injection intake valves or plenums. Those valves typically need manual cleaning, often walnut blasting.
A common routine is to add one bottle before an oil change and run it through the tank. It is generally used no more than twice per oil change, and once per oil change is enough for most people.
It can clean up older, high-mileage engines and improve rough running when deposits are part of the problem. It is also recommended by Hyundai at specified maintenance intervals for some models, including GDI engines.
