This is a compact 100W power station and solar panel bundle that stands out as a portable backup for light remote use, especially when paired with the panel on bright sunny days. It can charge a laptop twice, shows input and output wattage, and fits easily in a trunk or pouch. The main limits are the lack of AC output and awkward USB C power handling, since the solar panel uses the same port and the USB C adapter has snapped for some. The panel and adapters also seem to need careful handling, making it a handy small setup if those constraints fit your use.

Common Questions (5)

  • The USB-C to 7909 adapter and the small USB-C port can be a weak point and may snap from cable stress. A short USB-C extension or an L-shaped connector can reduce strain and help prevent breakage.

  • It can work well on bright days when pointed directly at the sun and has charged the power bank in real use. It may also fail after some use, with one report of the panel stopping after about a week and a half.

  • Yes, it is described as a good deal for the price, especially with the included panel and portable form factor. A lower Menards price of $35.59 after rebate was also mentioned for the same bundle.

    LeeC5938sbs5130adrock20

  • No. It is a USB-C/USB power bank style unit and does not include AC output, so it will not run AC-only devices or replace a small inverter-style power station.

    lchen5

  • No. The 100W USB-C port is also used for the solar panel connection, so it cannot simultaneously charge the unit and run a 100W USB-C device like a Starlink Mini.

In my experience with this and a multitude of USB power banks/supplies, this is the worst at USB-PD negotiating/handshaking. "You want 60 watts? OK... actually, NM... So, how much power do you want?..." But still good value at $40 shipped bundled with a capable panel.

Be aware the 100w USB-c port is also the port that the solar panel has to connect to. For that reason it can't charge and run a starlink mini or other 100w USB-c device.

As I posted here, it's best if you get a short USB-C extension cord to relieve the stress on the USB-C adapter, so you don't have to contact the customer service for a replacement (mine snapped in a month)

Same here. Did they get you a replacement?
I got a replacement USB-C to 7909 adapter that snapped, after two weeks and a few emails following up.

The stress that caused it to snap at the USB-C side. The USB-C to 7909 adapter plus the weight of the part of the cable are supported by the tiny USB-C port, so that's the weakest link and broke first.

Worse, it's store credit. Menards does this 11% off thing basically all the time on many/all things.
For those of us with a Menards nearby, it's not bad. Especially now that you can save up the rebates for a while and send them in all at once. Sending each individual rebate would be silly. I wish Home Depot still matched the 11% rebate Frown

Mine snapped as well...and they sent a replacement USB-C to 7909 adapter. However, I also bought this since it was L-shaped and prob puts less stress on the connection point. It's been working great so far.

Stores still do mail in rebates esp for $4?
As others have said, it's basically everything in the store and all the time. If you shop Menard's a lot, or buy a whole lot in one big purchase, it can be worth it. In effect, it is kind of similar to having a Target Red Card where you get 5% off on most stuff.
