Good chance these have expired or will soon expire. The resin breaks down and makes them more prone to coming apart.

They last years if kept dry, air tight and room temp. That is how I store mine. Now the ones at work in a hot and humid environment.... toss them after a year unless you like grenades. Just had one exploded last week, and these are the ones supplied by Fastnel.

Years, indeed! But general guideline is to toss em if they're 3-4 years old.

I can not say I have ever paid attention to the age. Is it printed on the disk or the packaging?

The age should be on the disc usually. It'll list the manufacturing month and year usually. And if you look it up, most manufacturers say either 2 or 3 years before the resin has degraded enough to increase the risk of failure. And that's in ideal storage conditions. Basically the discs become more brittle.

Got mine, I don't see any date stamp only a copyright date of 2025. So I'm guessing made in 2025 sometime. Got a few years left.

There may be a YYMM or MMYY stamped into the metal center ring.

A lot of people like to put side load onto these disks which cause them to explode. For cutting it's less likely

Would these work for touching up the edge on a mower blade?
