I remember having one of these when I was like 9 years old. Back then the bottom part was actually leather. The backpack did get kinda worn from daily use, but I used that backpack every day for 3 years.

$43 seems like too much for this backpack considering I'm sure it's much cheaper made these days.

Yeah I mean 'synthetic leather' is garbage and that's the part that's going to be scraping the ground all the time. Probably a good reason why the warranty only applies to the fabric and zippers.

I actually got this for my daily work carry Christmas of 2025. I think pricing then was more in the 45-50 range. But, build quality is great, nice canvas, good zipper and pulls, solid liners, and even the bottom synthetic leather has been fine. Even carrying it everyday it hardly has any wear markings and has not broken at all. That being said...I do have a few gripes that other bags in this price range could have fixed. 1. The pocket with the laptop is the primary pocket. So my lunch, gym clothes, dirty gym clothes, all of that goes in there. Related to point 1, but point 2 is that the second middle pocket is not thick enough at all. Currently I have a 1 inch ring binder in there and not much more than that can fit. I would have preferred (like previous bags i've had that the laptop pocket be the narrower one. 3. There are not many pockets in this thing. I have found my stuff is a little more thrown into the bag than organized. 4. There are zero places to put pins, lanyards, keychains, or other bad accessories on the outside of the bag. There is just nowhere to attach them. I didnt realize that would be an issue for me when I got the bag. Anyhow, I still love the look, feel, and quality of the bag, it was just the technical stuff that wasnt a perfect fit for me.

Actually their warranty is really generous. I have a backpack I bought in 2019 and the synthetic leather was coming off. I took pictures of it for their warranty and they sent me a gift card for a new one. I sent in an older one they repaired for free. It was a more expensive model they don't sell anymore. I used the model for high school, college, graduate school... so I wanted to keep it. Back then we carried lots of books, etc.

I've bought other backpacks for my kid- and they are all trash- regardless of brand. . There are a few brands that have no questions asked warranties but they are like Osprey and I think North Face and a few others that are near $200.
Im a fan of Jansport for life. Might consider getting a more expnesive model ($100) on sale and mail it in 10 years if need be. Nikes, adidas, oakley (which sucked when it crapped out) all don't last very long with constant wear and tear.

Can buy Jansport backpacks off ebay discounted and stil use the warranty. Don't buy from Wally or Amazonian. They require an original OEM from the backpack to get warranty repair.

What a bunch of malarkey. There are plenty of high quality and more functional backpacks at this price range.

Don't rely on the "lifetime" warranty, I sent my 9 year old jansport for a broken zipper and ripped water bottle holder and they said that it was normal wear and tear.
