Just ordered one for my trip in a couple weeks to Northern Michigan. I hope there is less smoke by then.

I have an older model, probably 5 years old, I've used it in a sedan trunk, a backseat, an rv- it all works great. I've never had a need for venting. I used it for 2 weeks straight in my rv in 100 degree temps and it kept my food plenty cold.
Yeah why are we worried about venting. Its not that hot of air. I had similar experience as you

I've only had this fridge for about a week, but so far I'm very impressed. I first tested it in my garage on a standard 110V outlet, and it chilled my drinks surprisingly fast. I then took it to work and left it in my Juniper. When I checked it at lunch, it was holding a steady 32°F. After that, I plugged it into a 110V outlet at my second house, which I'm currently remodeling, and it's continued to keep everything nice and cold.

So far, it's performing exactly as I hoped. I'll be using it on road trips in my Tesla, and based on my experience so far, I have loved it.

Rear seat, F-150 Powerboost. Works great Pro power out generator mode. Kids soccer tournaments, food cool while shopping a couple stores, child drinks for a trip. No problems and low draw.

I prefer the crpro21, only 40 watts on high and a measly 7 watts maintenance.

I have this in my model y subtrunk. You NEED risers for air circulation. I 3d printed some, but you can DIY anything to keep the subtrunk open so all the heat doesn't get trapped. Even with risers, when it was 100°+ outside it could not keep a fridge full of cold food below 60° when set at 38. That is with the AC in the car on, but the car in the sun. If you are going to use it in extreme heat the subtrunk won't work.
Interesting. I have this same model in my model Y, left it turned on while at a theme park all day while parked in the sun. subtrunk closed, no risers, cabin overheat turned off, only accessory power turned on to keep the fridge powered, and it was just fine and still at 36° when I came back at the hottest part of the day. I also had the trunk cover shelf thing installed which probably helped reduce heat in the trunk, but other than that, worked just fine for me without doing anything like you did

I've used this in the back of an X5 PHEV for a few years now and it has been outstanding. The Tesla issue is because of the lack of venting and has nothing to do with this product.

Good deal but I decided to spend another $50 and splurge for the newer CRH 21qt model. The vertical design should be more efficient and easier to carry around. Plus you have the option to add a battery.

Been watching this for a little bit and finally pulled the trigger for the sub trunk of our Model Y. Looking forward to using it on a few trips and tailgating. Already plan to precool it the night before use on AC power and put in precooled food/drink for the best results I hear. Any other helpful tips appreciated.
I have a Y and the 21Q CRPRO20. I mostly have it secured to the back of the rear seats via the tether anchors. I sometimes also keep it in the side or back passenger footwell.
