I have this in my model y subtrunk. You NEED risers for air circulation. I 3d printed some, but you can DIY anything to keep the subtrunk open so all the heat doesn't get trapped.

Even with risers, when it was 100°+ outside it could not keep a fridge full of cold food below 60° when set at 38. That is with the AC in the car on, but the car in the sun.

If you are going to use it in extreme heat the subtrunk won't work.

Been watching this for a little bit and finally pulled the trigger for the sub trunk of our Model Y. Looking forward to using it on a few trips and tailgating. Already plan to precool it the night before use on AC power and put in precooled food/drink for the best results I hear. Any other helpful tips appreciated.

I don't know if I would put it in the subtrunk as that means you would have to unpack everything on the top level. When on a trip I leave cooler on the top as it is more convenient to get to. I put tire repair kit, charger and compressor in the subtrunk and hope I don't have to use them. I also have a small 300w battery that I plug the cooler into just in case, this usually lasts 8+ hours.

yeah I have one and do use it in the subtrunk but it gets hot and is a pain to get to if you're just trying to fish out a drink. But for a roadtrip or camping, subtrunk is ok to save space.

Has anyone every used this in a suv for a long trip and vented the exhaust out a window? For what ever reason i have a couple extra portable AC unit exhaust vents and wandering if anyone has done anything like this. I was worried about the air flow blowing back into the tube.

I have an older model, probably 5 years old, I've used it in a sedan trunk, a backseat, an rv- it all works great. I've never had a need for venting. I used it for 2 weeks straight in my rv in 100 degree temps and it kept my food plenty cold.

This is the most brilliant purchase you will ever make! Add whatever battery you like and you're keeping the cold things cold (or frozen). Mine is usually full of dairy or soda or water. Just depends on what we are doing. I don't have to deal with Ice and melted ice (sometimes condensation happens) but it pays for itself on adventures.

This thing is awesome. We use it for formula bottles in the bedroom for nighttime and early feeds for the baby. My wife went from saying "why did you buy this" to "this is the best thing ever" 😂

Just wish this version had a built in battery like the Anker's do... can't beat the price.. but this, plus a portable battery cube is taking up a lot of smaller SUV's trunks.

Not enough ventilation in there. Tesla makes one that fits in there perfectly. You wonder how well it works. It's currently out of stock

Buy some ice from Mc Donalds to avoid having to precool it.
