It has better heat retention, but it is also heavy. Looking at the photos I think they show the best use case, which is to have something like cheese dips or other things you want to serve and keep hot. For actual cooking, I don't think it's that practical especially because it's pretty small. I think it'll be great to do a nice presentation of your queso dip and keep it warm longer, but I can't imagine this should be a daily use kind of saucepan.

You won't be able to make any acidic sauces (anything with tomato, wine, vinegar) as it'll strip the seasoning. These are very common so I'm surprised they even make a cast iron saucepan. Stainless steel surface is the way to go for sauces.

Cast takes longer to heat but holds heat very well and evenly. It needs to be cleaned different. Only hand wash on the gentle side Over cleaning will strip the seasoning that not only protects from rust it also keeps a non-stick surface. Once clean thoroughly dry it anywhere it is wet. I don't see the need for a cast iron sauce pan though. Cast iron can react with acidic ingredients like tomatoes or citrus, which can strip the seasoning and leave a metallic taste. Stainless steel is completely non-reactive, making it the best choice for acidic sauces.

Retains heat longer. Requires seasoning every so often to prevent rusting if old seasoning wears or acidic foods degrade it.
