But since both laptops are completely different and different prices (the Alienware is 50% more than this LG), it's like asking "which is a better deal -- a really nice bicycle that is half off or a Tesla Cybertruck that is half off". Which one gives you the best value for your money?
Community Reviews
The LG gram 17 stands out as a very light, long battery life 17 inch laptop for productivity, travel, and general use. The Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD make it feel like a strong generalist machine, and the integrated graphics can handle light gaming and even some older or less demanding titles at lower resolutions. The big tradeoff is the display, which is only 60Hz and 320 nits, so brightness and gaming smoothness are not its strengths. It is best suited to portable work, not high resolution gaming.
Common Questions (5)
It can handle light to moderate gaming, including AAA titles at 1080p low settings and games like Cyberpunk 2077 around 46 fps on medium with XeSS. Full QHD gaming is too demanding for the integrated Arc 140V, so lower in-game resolutions such as 800p to 1200p are the practical target.
The display is a 60Hz LCD rated around 320 nits with 99% DCI-P3 and an anti-glare coating. It should be fine in normal indoor use, but it is not ideal for bright sunlight or for shoppers who want a very bright panel.
Yes, it is positioned as a general-purpose, productivity-focused laptop with strong battery life, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Wi‑Fi 7, and Thunderbolt 4. It is a better fit for travel, office work, and trading than for high-resolution gaming.
It is unusually light for a 17-inch laptop, with one report noting a 17-inch panel in a 16-inch body and a weight under many 15-inch and even some 14-inch laptops. That makes it a strong choice for carrying all day when you want a large screen without a heavy chassis.
An open-box unit can be essentially new, with one report describing a machine that had only been taken out, used briefly, and returned. That makes open-box a plausible way to get the gram at a lower price without much wear risk.

That said, pairing this CPU/GPU with a 17" screen at QHD isn't the best since few modern games will have great frame rates at QHD on this iGPU. This GPU pairs best with a 14" 1080 OLED. But you can run games at lower resolution than the native resolution, so it isn't the end of the world.
