But since both laptops are completely different and different prices (the Alienware is 50% more than this LG), it's like asking "which is a better deal -- a really nice bicycle that is half off or a Tesla Cybertruck that is half off". Which one gives you the best value for your money?

The LG gram 17 stands out as a very light, long battery life 17 inch laptop for productivity, travel, and general use. The Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB SSD make it feel like a strong generalist machine, and the integrated graphics can handle light gaming and even some older or less demanding titles at lower resolutions. The big tradeoff is the display, which is only 60Hz and 320 nits, so brightness and gaming smoothness are not its strengths. It is best suited to portable work, not high resolution gaming.
The LG gram 17 can handle AAA gaming at 1080p low or better settings with integrated graphics.
The laptop can play Cyberpunk 2077 around mid settings using XeSS, which supports casual gaming expectations.
The gram 17 offers strong portability by fitting a 17-inch display into a lighter-than-many 15-inch laptop chassis.
The open-box unit can arrive essentially new after brief testing and return, which improves confidence in condition.
The integrated Arc 140V iGPU is unlikely to deliver good frame rates at full 2560x1600 resolution in many modern games.
The laptop is not positioned as a gaming machine, so high-resolution gaming expectations may disappoint.
The 17-inch QHD+ display is not especially bright at about 320 nits, which can strain eyes in bright environments.
The screen refresh rate and brightness limitations can make the deal feel poor for daily use.

That said, pairing this CPU/GPU with a 17" screen at QHD isn't the best since few modern games will have great frame rates at QHD on this iGPU. This GPU pairs best with a 14" 1080 OLED. But you can run games at lower resolution than the native resolution, so it isn't the end of the world.
