Based on spec of IPS 400 nit 100% sRGB, I think it's pretty decent. I know I would be fine with it. Of course there will be screen snobs that want oled 4k 600 nit screens. Personally I think 1200p is fine if it's IPS. For oled, I would want at least 2.5k (around 1600-1800p). I don't use my laptops outside so 400 nit is more than enough.
For me though, is the Aspire series build quality good enough to spend $800+ on?
Keep in mind back to school sales events will be occurring soon so there may be a similar deal from HP or Dell in a few weeks, but no guarantees.

I can't find what the chassis is made of. If this turns out to be a metal chassis like aluminum instead of plastic, then this would be a great deal.

It's not that it's an Acer. It's that it's an Acer Aspire line, which is a budget to midline tier (traditionally lean towards budget). The condern is build quality, hence if you haul it around alot, it may not be great, as oppose to leaving it at home. If this was the Swift line, it would be better.
