DO NOT BUY: LG's Spyware TVs, Monitors, and Wiretapping Concerns - YouTube
Community Reviews
This 34 inch LG UltraGear stands out for OLED gaming, with deep blacks, vivid image quality, and strong 240Hz performance. The 3440 by 1440 resolution keeps text and pixel density more acceptable than larger ultrawides, though the smaller vertical height still matters for desk comfort. Pricing is the biggest hesitation, since similar OLED monitors have sold for less and the value feels hard to justify at full price. LG software and privacy concerns also come up, so it is best suited to buyers focused on the panel itself.
Common Questions (5)
Multiple comments flag LG monitor software as a privacy concern, citing a Gamers Nexus video about adware, spyware, and wiretapping concerns. One user says they disabled the feature through group policy, and another says they uninstalled the LG software after setup.
At $700, it is a strong buy only if you specifically want this size and panel; several comments say the price-to-value is not compelling versus prior OLED deals. Alternatives mentioned include a 39-inch LG OLED at $550 on sale and a Samsung 32-inch 4K 240Hz QD-OLED at $600, with one shopper preferring the Dell AW3426DW around $800 after discounts.
The 3440x1440 panel is reported to have decent PPI for a 34-inch ultrawide, but text can still look slightly off compared with sharper displays. Gaming looks excellent on OLED, while day-to-day desktop use may take some adjustment if you are sensitive to text clarity.
The ultrawide's reduced vertical height is a real tradeoff, especially if you are coming from a taller 49-inch display. One user also reported neck discomfort from the ultrawide shape and returned it after 24 hours.
Yes. One comment says Newegg purchases can be paired with $50 gift cards and PAZE to potentially save about $140-$150 total.

It's actually slightly better than my Dell, which I WAS disappointed in when I first got it (not knowing), but learned to live with it (and used a tack sharp, small 27" IPS to the side).
For gaming, it's breathtaking, and the inky blacks of OLED have spoiled me for any other tech that can't do that.
Since the screen in this deal is a lot smaller, the PPI is very decent here, at 110, but of course you lose a lot of vertical height (which I wasn't willing to do).
