Heads up that this monitor has been installing software on windows without user consent and likely contains spyware to harvest and sell your data. Gamers Nexus just did a video on LG monitors and TVs

This 34 inch LG UltraGear stands out for OLED gaming, with deep blacks, vivid image quality, and strong 240Hz performance. The 3440 by 1440 resolution keeps text and pixel density more acceptable than larger ultrawides, though the smaller vertical height still matters for desk comfort. Pricing is the biggest hesitation, since similar OLED monitors have sold for less and the value feels hard to justify at full price. LG software and privacy concerns also come up, so it is best suited to buyers focused on the panel itself.

  • The OLED panel delivers inky blacks that make gaming look breathtaking.

  • The display can feel gorgeous for gaming even when PPI is lower than expected.

    denzeler27

  • The smaller screen size can make the PPI tradeoff feel more acceptable for everyday use.

  • Newegg purchases may allow additional savings using $50 gift cards and PAZE.

I just saw that. Can't believe they're getting away with this kind of stuff, it's insane. I might have to take LG off my purchase list forever, ugh

What I can't believe is that 6 LG ultra wide monitors were briefly on the front page after this video was published
at least two were added this morning well after most of these warnings started appearing.

That's weird, I had this monitor a month ago, and nothing got added without my permission. Of course I returned it after 24 hours and uninstalled the LG software (that I actually installed) because the ultrawide was making my neck hurt. So yeah, not sure what changed in the past month.

You're right that Microsoft bears a large part of the blame along with LG. I'm sick of companies treating our privacy as something to ignore as much as they can get away with. If you think this is bad, don't research what the car companies are doing! It's pretty discouraging how we have so little legal rights in this regard and all our data is being sold to whoever will pay for it (hostile countries, law enforcement, spammers, you name it). I hope people eventually get sick and tired of it and demand change, because that's the only thing that will make it happen- the politicians aren't going to do it out of the goodness of their hearts.

I bought a 45" GX9 monitor 2 days ago (best picture I have ever seen). The first thing I did was disable this nonsense in group policy. The problem is that LG is NOT the only company doing this; it's just that they may be the worst. None of these companies care about user privacy.
