The Panasonic Z8 OLED stands out as a 77 inch set with strong picture quality, excellent processing, and unusually good built in sound, with some calling the audio good enough to skip a soundbar. It also gets praise for gaming at 144Hz and for handling HDR10 plus and Dolby Vision, while the larger size is a clear upgrade over smaller TVs. The main cautions are that it shines best in dimmer rooms and that the brand's future ownership has raised warranty and long term support questions. A compelling option if you want a big OLED with serious audio.

  • Movie watchers in moderately dim rooms who want strong built-in audio, because the picture is praised and the speakers can be good enough to skip a soundbar.

  • Viewers who prefer a large 77-inch screen, because the size jump is immediately noticeable and the bigger panel feels worth it.

  • Console and PC gamers who want 144Hz support, because it handles gaming well and the refresh rate meets expectations.

  • Home theater buyers who want HDR10+ and Dolby Vision in one OLED, because it supports both formats and can preserve detail in mixed HDR libraries.

  • Buyers comparing against the strongest competing OLEDs for pure picture value, because it is repeatedly weighed against cheaper or better-scoring alternatives.

  • Shoppers with very bright living rooms, because the panel is described as best in rooms that are not very bright.

  • People who want a lighter TV to move or mount alone, because the set is reported to be extremely heavy.

Its in my cart and waiting. The 10% AI video and coupons don't work anymore. Seems to be very limited stock so I may be SOL.Here is my short list of TV's. Leaning toward the TCL for size and Samsung for price.Mixed Usage TCL QM9K - 8.4 - $1999Samsung S90F OLED 8.7 $1620LG C6H OLED 8.8 $2300 with soundbar and other perks.Hisense U8QG 8.4 $1649FWIW S90F outscored the Z8 Mixed Usage 8.7 vs 8.3 I've watched quite a few comparison videos on YouTube now as well. I can not personally tell the difference between most TV's the reviewers are comparing side by side OLED vs QM9K.Concerned about OLED burn-in. In the end the size 85 inch is bigger than 77" and the pricing may sway.
And you probably won't even if the TVs were side by side in front of you. Just went from a Hisense 65" U7N to 77" S90F, I barely notice a difference in regular SDR stuff, the size difference is what I notice the most. HDR is where the S90F really shine... But I spend like 80% of my time on YouTube so the only HDR videos I see are showcase videos. The price was a steal though so no way I'd turn it down.

Also, I wouldn't worry about OLED burn in, you pause the S90F and in less than 5 minutes it's already in screensaver mode, no option to change it. Samsung also has a few active screen tweaks you can enable like adjusting logo brightness, pixel shift, and pixel refresh. So unless you've got the brightness cranked up to 100% for 8 hours a day watch some news channel with the same logo with all of these features turned off, I don't think burn in is something to worry about.

Would have loved to see 4k plasma with HDR but too bad it was never sold. My 60' Pani plasma still look great 12 yrs in
4K in plasma was possible, but not feasible/practical to implement at a reasonable cost. HDR in plasma also would've been difficult as they just didn't get very bright.

The Samsung S90F features a glossy screen. It does not have the "OLED Glare Free" matte coating found on some of Samsung's other premium models, like the S95F. from Rtings.com
Interesting. I didn't even realize Samsung made any glossy TVs. I know they came out with a glossy monitor recently, but I thought their TVs were still exclusively matte.

FWIW, I had Gemini give a 0-100 rating for these TVs for a dark room.
