Community Reviews
The Panasonic Z8 OLED stands out as a 77 inch set with strong picture quality, excellent processing, and unusually good built in sound, with some calling the audio good enough to skip a soundbar. It also gets praise for gaming at 144Hz and for handling HDR10 plus and Dolby Vision, while the larger size is a clear upgrade over smaller TVs. The main cautions are that it shines best in dimmer rooms and that the brand's future ownership has raised warranty and long term support questions. A compelling option if you want a big OLED with serious audio.
Common Questions (5)
The built-in audio is reported to be unusually strong for a TV, with some owners saying it removes the need for a soundbar. It also has a built-in sound bar and can hook up a subwoofer for a fuller setup.
The 77-inch size is repeatedly described as a major upgrade that you will notice immediately, especially if you are coming from a 55- or 65-inch set. Buyers also say the jump beyond 77 inches gets expensive fast, making this size the sweet spot for value.
Yes. The 144Hz panel is reported to handle PC and console gaming well, and the TV's built-in sound is strong enough that some buyers skip a separate soundbar. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which helps HDR gaming and movies look more complete.
It is described as best for rooms that are not very bright, though another owner says it is brighter than a Panasonic B4 and works well in a brighter living room. For very bright spaces, other TVs were preferred in the discussion.
Yes. The warranty is said to be honored through repair-cost coverage, replacement with warranty stock, or a check. The Skyworth licensing change is described as an ownership change, not a stop in manufacturing.

The sound though really seals it. No need for an additional soundbar and that setup . Built in stuff works so well!
Does it make sense to buy them if they're not gonna be making them anymore? What happens if the TV breaks down?
BTW the licensing to Skyworth will not cause manufacturing to cease. It's just a change in ownership.
Here is my short list of TV's. Leaning toward the TCL for size and Samsung for price.
Mixed Usage
TCL QM9K - 8.4 - $1999
Samsung S90F OLED 8.7 $1620
LG C6H OLED 8.8 $2300 with soundbar and other perks.
Hisense U8QG 8.4 $1649
FWIW S90F outscored the Z8 Mixed Usage 8.7 vs 8.3
I've watched quite a few comparison videos on YouTube now as well. I can not personally tell the difference between most TV's the reviewers are comparing side by side OLED vs QM9K.
Concerned about OLED burn-in. In the end the size 85 inch is bigger than 77" and the pricing may sway.
I wish this came in a 65-inch version though. 77 is probably too big the room. But they seem to have discontinued the z95b from last year as that can't be found anywhere

I'd say in most ways the Samsung is better. But it really comes down to whether you have a feeling one way or the other about matte vs glossy. I refuse to go Samsung because I have one of their OLED monitors and it's the last time I ever go matte on an OLED. I love glossy. So if you feel strongly about it one way or the other, it makes the choice easy. Samsung if you like matte, this is you prefer glossy.

With that being said if you have edu/partner account the s90f is the best deal if it's still available.
The TV is amazing. The picture processing is great and it's brighter than the B4 I came from since my living room is brighter than my previous house. FireTV isn't bad but I turn off network access and use a Shield Pro. I haven't had issues with it and it's really heavy. 98lbs I think. The sound is amazing for a TV but I'd gather most people buying this have a home theater solution. I have no complaints about this TV and the price point for me made this a no brainer. I don't like QD-OLEDs overbright saturation of certain colors when I watch movies. So the Panny is wonderful for watching things in more reference or neutral tones and it excels in color and image processing on that front. I have a cheaper Panny blu-ray player without the image processing the 450 I think. I opted for that since it plays both HDR+ and Dolby. The 420 does one and the 820 is out of my price point. Both do image processing BUT this TV and my setup is now all cohesive. A main draw besides all the advantages I listed above would be that this TV is one of the ONLY OLEDs that can display HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Now I can watch everything in the best HDR in my moderately dim room and not miss details. I think it was posted somewhere else that this stands above the C4, I'd say it's worth it.
Its in my cart and waiting. The 10% AI video and coupons don't work anymore. Seems to be very limited stock so I may be SOL.
