I just grabbed this yesterday. Kid's school supply list is already out. Supposed to be a nice upgrade from the 11 year old CE.

Most teachers are still telling kids to get the old 84 CE. The fact that everyone is discounting the brand new Evo so much is telling...it is not selling.

This is the calculator I'd get my children if they needed one (we have a TI-Nspire CX and an older 84). The Nspire is great but can't be used on every test (e.g., ACT) and requires the user to figure out how to do things because teachers usually teach with an 84. Figuring out how to do things is better long-term for retention, however, than just following the teacher. It's not for everyone though.

This 84 Evo has USB C charging, which makes life much easier when needing to charge it. It also apparently makes some important user experience updates and is a major update to the old 84, which wasn't much changed over its history.

Remember Hewlett Packard Calculators? I had one that could do Calculus and do Integral and Derivative. It sure helped me in my Calculus class! Back then 40 years ago it was $350

And probably the same cost for 1 semesters tuition. Nice trade off instead 10k per semester
