Yup pretty straightforward. Just unplug the existing pods, power up one of the Decos as your main, open up the app and it will guide you through setup.

The only additional step you'll have to do is to set your Quantum Fiber modem in bridging mode. You can do this after you set up your first Deco though.

I can see this for a small office/work network probably, but seems such overkill for home networks and 'future proofing' things every couple years. I wonder what kind of practical use cases (streaming, video editing etc etc) people have on their home network that need multiple (8!) devices constantly transferring things between them or from a NAS where aggregate 2.5 gpbs bandwidth is not enough. My file transfers or backups (that happen in background) will take 10 mins instead of 5 mins if I don't have a 10 gbps link, oh the agony!

I bought these to replace a Spectrum wireless router and three WiFi pods that I was paying $25/month for. Kept the same SSID and installed all three of these in 15 minutes. Excellent product, very fast and intuitive app. They will pay for themselves in a year and my speed has almost doubled!

what system would you recommend then for users that have a NAS for video transfer? I use jellyfin daily to watch videos on all devices thru out my network and notice issues if kids are gaming and i am watching on old movie on NAS.

Having multiple NAS in a regular home setup is rare and for most people's needs, these are pretty fast, and have room for growth with Wi-Fi 7. Price is good for a 3mesh setup like this.

Its unnecessary because none of those devices will actually saturate the 1 gig connecting with normal use. The only time would like what the OP mentioned which is local file transfers which are very untypical. Any local streaming service (Plex, JellyFin) will usually transcode video streams and the like. Even in cases where they don't, your TV or other streaming device won't use up more than a standard 100Mbps to stream at 4k. You won't be saturating your connection anytime soon; you'll be fine with 1G for at least the next decade if not longer.

It depends on your current setup, but you can implement QoS settings to help even things out without needing to change equipment.

I already have deco 1100 costco model. If i buy this can i add it to the existing system? Will the speed be same i have 1gps internet?i guess both systems should be compatiable. Just checking if anyone has both systems setup together. Thanks.

Is this a meaningful upgrade from a 4 year old Orbi mesh setup? I have ATT Fiber with the BGW320 going into my Orbi with 2 satellites. Works fine I suppose, but perhaps I don't know what I'm missing out on with these newer units.
