This pump sucks more than it pumps. I bought it to backup a Milwaukee M18 pump and hate using it because I have to hold down the pump button while it pumps air. It's slow and gets very hot. It's honestly no better than Ryobi 18V pistol style pump and costs way more. Do yourself a favor and buy a Milwaukee M18 inflator or go cheapie Amazon/Chinese one with pump + jump pack + 12 different and useless functions.

Not that I am defending the product but that is strange, you should contact Ridgid and ask. For tires I rotate the dial and press the play button. Then walk away... but its ultra quick to fill most tires I have thrown at it. Then changing the mode to the inflator pump was a game changer for water tubes. It should have stayed on..

I have highly considered buying another for trips.

You are right; I have been using on "Manual" mode and there is an Auto mode. But I still have hard time pumping into thicker wall tires (like a tractor).

Biggest tractor tire I did was a normal lawn mower one - so not a good comparison. I have a handheld ridgid one, and milwaukee 12v one for a while. This one seemed to outperform them by double. Glad the 18v worked for you though... all the same silly company!
