This 22 inch Blackstone is a portable propane griddle that works well for camping, tailgates, and smaller home setups. The newer omnivore version is described as heating better after a good preheat, and the stand makes it more versatile than the Costco cooktop only version. Capacity is the main tradeoff, with some finding it fine for a family of four or even larger batches, while others say the legs feel flimsy and the surface is better suited to smaller groups. A practical compact option if portability matters more than deck duty.
The omnivore plate versions can reach enough heat for good smash-burger crust when preheated thoroughly.
The griddle can handle batch cooking for larger gatherings when cooking in multiple rounds.
The included legs and stand make it more convenient than a cook-top-only setup for outdoor use.
Aftermarket wind guards can improve performance on the older version for long-term outdoor hosting.
The 22-inch cooking surface can be limiting for feeding more than about three people at once.
The legs can feel flimsy for use on a back deck rather than lighter camping setups.
Some performance concerns remain about whether this model reaches enough maximum temperature for strong crusting compared with larger Blackstones.
The griddle is positioned more for fast cooking than long-term large-batch cooking on a single session.
