Just an FYI: This does the job, but it has a small cooking surface area, so if you're looking to feed more than 3 people, you'll need a larger model. This is fine for taking on a small camping trip etc. Just don't expect it to be useful at the next cookout.

I regularly cook for 4-6 people on my 22" no problem, I dont know what issue you are having.

This is good for 1-1 1/2 people . If you want to stay forever there cooking go ahead. The point is to cook something fast in one griddle

I'm less concerned about the surface area and more concerned about the max temperature. Does this one get hot enough compared to the larger Blackstones, particularly for getting a good crust on smash burgers?

The original ones didn't, but the newer ones with the omnivore plate do if you preheat them enough.
