Edit: I will say I no longer buy this version as the Freesip Sway fits my cupholders whereas the OG Freesip does not.
Still the best water bottle I have ever owned though.
Community Reviews
The Owala FreeSip stands out for its two way drinking lid, letting you sip through the built in straw or drink open mouth like a glass, which makes it especially handy for driving, toddlers, protein shakes, and chewing ice. The bottle has a strong track record of long term use, with only minor dents or occasional wobble after drops, and the straw system encourages more drinking. The main drawback is fit, since the 32 ounce and 40 ounce versions do not fit some cup holders, and the older lid design has plastic parts that can crack or lose a spring. A practical pick if the FreeSip lid matters more than cup holder compatibility.
Common Questions (3)
The 32-oz and 40-oz versions do not fit in many car cupholders because this older FreeSip has a non-tapered body. The newer Sway/tapered version is designed to fit cupholders better.
The lid can be a weak point: the plastic buttons can crack and stop the spout from closing, and a spring can come off after a drop. Some lids are repaired under warranty or can be reassembled, but the bottle may still work with reduced spring tension.
Yes. The built-in FreeSip design lets you sip through the straw without tilting or drink open-mouth like a glass, which is especially handy for protein shakes, chewing ice, driving, or using one hand.

Care to share another bottle that you can drink both thick protein shakes out of and also use as a regular straw? Or how about a covered straw bottle that doesn't have plastic?

Still a good price.
