From what the vid shows, it is a battery type of sensor. It does show a usb c charge port on the bottom, but it is un clear to me that it will work if you hard wire the "c" charge port. It gets cold in MN so I would prefer a always on powered cam. If power goes out, the cam would stay alive and record on the sd card.. Charge when the battery is dead cam seams bad to me. I have a WYZE doorbell cam that works with the powered door bell to keep the batt charged, but the Wyzzze camera sucks and is quite laggy..

I know Tapo is in the ship list, but of all the cams I have tried, they seem quite stable and the app is not full of adds.

I would not go laview, wyzee as I have wasted effort on those.

If you are going to get kind of serious setting up cameras, Stop and think. Check out the apps b4 you buy. Most of these cams are loss leaders to get you to subscribe to a service. Fall down that rabbit hole and you will just get frusterated. A bunch of different cams from a bunch of manufacturers, is not a good route. If I were to start from scratch, and based on all the smart plugs and swithces I have and use, I would prefer a Tapo doorbell If it sayed charged at -20 below zero..

I have recomended tapo to my friends. They are happy with the simplicity of setup and the not being bound to a specific ecosystem.

I know they say that china can snoop, but what are they going to see? A porch pirate?

This is a great little doorbell. I held out on video doorbells for the longest time but got this one 3-4 months ago. I pay the $30 for cloud storage (SD cards in all my other Tapo cameras)

I've been switching out of the Wyze ecosystem to Tapo and have been pretty pleased

Get the wired version. I have it and I love it. I had a blink battery one and I hated it. We have cold winters and the battery always conked out. I highly recommend you get an AC version if you live somewhere that has cold winters.
