Is this a good traeger or should I be aiming at a different model?
It will do the job just fine. If you want to step up to more features like WiFi capabilities you will pay a lot more. I have a camp chef woodwind and love it but it's more than double this price.
Lowest price this has been in a while, by $20. I have this one, and I'll personally never buy a Traeger again. This is about as barebones of a grill/smoker as you can get, and the pellet funnel during overnight cooks is real, and is a costly frustration. Paid a premium price for the nameplate and living with budget performance.

Interesting I don't have any issues like this or anything else with my Traeger 780. It just does what it's told and works. Had it for a few years now and I leave it outside uncovered with a very small roof over it. I just hose the dust off occasionally and it doesn't care. I frequently cook 24-30 hour briskets too and it has no issues whatsoever.Maybe the Traeger Pro 34 isn't great, but the Pro 780 is solid.

Right, my neighbor recently bought a 780 and it offers a completely different experience. This deal thread, however, is about the lowly Pro 34.
Very simple entry level large model. Doesn't have a digital PID controller and its been around for years. Parts are plentiful and easy to find. I see it going for $399 on this site but I'm not familiar with it. https://nascarracingtools.com/pro...rbEALw_wcB
