Sometimes cheap printers have a high ink cartridge cost as a way to keep business coming in, so find out how much replacement ink costs before you buy. And also see if you can buy cheaper 3rd party ink on Amazon. Been using the same Brother printer like that since 2015. But your mileage may vary.

New printers cartridges are usually chipped, making it more expensive to get 3rd party ink than older printers. Tank printers are the way to go these days.

IIRC they specifically nerf'ed duplex scanning after MX922.
