This GarveeHome 12,000 BTU mini split stands out as a low cost way to add both cooling and heat, with strong efficiency compared with window units and quiet operation. The comments also point to easy DIY installation for handy buyers, and the included line set and precharged setup help keep the job straightforward. The main cautions are that it is not WiFi, the electrical work still needs care, and the listing appears to have shifted from SEER 19 to SEER2 17. It looks best for a garage, shed, or room where 230V power is already available.

Common Questions (6)

  • DIY installation is commonly described as straightforward for a handy buyer: mount the indoor unit, drill a wall hole, run the lines and wire, then vacuum the line set and release the precharged refrigerant. First-time installs have taken anywhere from about 45 minutes to a few days, and the hardest parts are usually the electrical work and cutting the wall opening.

  • It is a 230V unit, but commenters say it does not need a 50A circuit; a dedicated 15A or 20A double-pole breaker is typically considered enough for this 12k BTU model. Several also note that 120V and 240V versions appear to perform similarly, so the main difference is the wiring you already have available.

  • For a 200-250 sq ft bedroom, 12,000 BTU is often considered oversized, with 9,000 BTU suggested instead. For garages and larger spaces, 12,000 BTU can work, but insulation, sun exposure, and heat load matter a lot; some users in south Texas say smaller units struggle in peak afternoon heat.

  • This model is not Wi‑Fi, so it does not offer native app control. That matters if you want to pre-cool or pre-heat remotely; otherwise the included remote still works, and some buyers prefer skipping Wi‑Fi to save money.

  • Yes, the package includes a 3000mm line set, but buyers still mention needing extra install items such as a vacuum pump, disconnect box, breaker, whip, brackets or stand, and sometimes conduit or trim kit. Those extras can add roughly $150 to $250 or more to a DIY install.

  • Only if the camper already has 230V/240V power available, typically a 50A setup with a NEMA 14-50 receptacle. A standard 30A camper outlet is only 120V, so this unit will not run from that supply.

I only asked a few places, but what would you estimate the cost would be if:

- hole is already cut in house, and unit is installed on wall already
- unit is already mounted on concrete pad or mounted to house with bracket
- 12 gauge wire is already ran from box to location of split (but not hooked up to box or unit yet)

Im just trying to keep costs down, and use HVAC/Electrician where I dont feel comfortable. I can do all the grunt work, but charging the lines and some of the electrical I'd rather pay a pro.

One company said they either do the whole thing or nothing.....
Those AC tech or companies are always trying to rip-off people. They will do for whole thing. So you could pay more.

You almost have everything done. All you need is connect electric wire to disconnect power box. In the breaker panel home electric box, you find the breaker for that AC DISCONNECT BOX AND TURN IT OFF. Then, connect outdoor unit electric wire to the AC disconnect box. Make sure that AC disconnect box is no power by using "Non Contact Voltage Tester Pen".

I show you in picture for better understanding. Connect electric wire to AC DISCONNECT BOX like this picture: https://ibb.co/v6RbR8NF

Then connect to electric wire to OUTDOOR UNIT like this picture: https://ibb.co/g52phyW

After that, get the VACUUM PUMP connect with outdoor unit to vacuum the copper line.

Your mini split is 240V version right?

If you can use a FoodSaver sealer, you can do the vacuum part.

Thanks. No reviews on those and looks like "normal" pricing. I'm not in a rush.

The built-in WiFi in my old mrcool was trash. The sensibo system I use to automate all 6 of my analog AUX units is excellent. I would recommend going with an analog unit and getting sensibo if the unit is going to cost $100 less than a native wifi one and you need multiple units.

we saw no difference in performance betwen the 120 and the 240 FYI
I have installed pool pumps that can accommodate either 120 or 240 but there is an internal switch to toggle accordingly. Is that the case here? Or have you installed this exact unit with both voltages and seen no difference in performance?

Is this unit overkill for a 200-250 sq ft bedroom? I'm looking to purchase two to install in two bedrooms near each other. Gonna wait til fall season to install them.

Does anyone know how good the unit is for heating? Im looking to cool AND heat my garage in order to use the space for working out. Currently I am using a portable AC unit and a separate forced air electric heater but I cannot run either ahead of time to warm/cool the space. I want to be able to program the unit to warm/cool the garage ahead of time so that I can start working out without having to wait 30-60 minutes like I currently do now. BTW, I live in the northeast part of the country if that makes any difference.

That sounds pretty good and fair. In my area Daikin and Mitsubishi single units average about $10k at the low end (parts + labor). It's highway robbery. My neighbor got two units installed for $30k on credit.Asked electrician friend about this and was told anyone that comes up here thinking they'll undercut these guys and make a killing, quickly realize they can charge the same and still get jobs. It'll only come down (over here) when people stop paying those ludicrous rates.
If you live in a hot metro people on Craigslist sell installs for these Chinese units for about 300 labor

Install it for free yourself
The only problem I have with this statement is that the unit runs on 220V. Most people should not be messing with adding a 220 breaker without proper support from an electrician. The rest of what this unit needs, I agree...DIY-friendly.

u purchase the unit in either 120 or 240 ... we have purchased several of each .... walking into a warm room with these turned on for cooling -- no difference in time to cool or $$$ used in electricity
