Squirrel With A Gun is a goofy indie action platformer that leans on absurd premise and cheap, short-burst entertainment. The core appeal is the silly concept, with the game described as stupid fun, visually solid on PS5, and entertaining enough that the low price feels easy to justify. It also has more content than at launch. The main drawbacks are floaty platforming, controls that take getting used to, limited combat variety, and some jank or bugs. A quirky pick if the premise alone is enough.
The game can feel like a blast after launch, even though it is an indie title.
The controls can take some getting used to, but the gameplay can still be entertaining at the low sale price.
The game can look really good on PS5 Pro, with settings reportedly similar to regular PS5.
The game can be worth the money when purchased at a low price, with added content over time.
The platforming can feel terribly floaty and the first gunfight can be unengaging from the start.
The first level can require precise jump-and-shoot aiming, which can cause falls into a pit.
The mechanics can feel less fleshed out, with limited variation between take downs or gun-change reasons.
The game may look more fun than it actually is, making it questionable whether it is worth paying for.
