The Traeger Pro 34 is a pellet smoker that stands out for easy set it and walk away cooking, with strong results on brisket, ribs, jerky, smoked burgers, and meatloaf. The current $379.99 price is described as a strong deal, especially since this model has often sat closer to $500. It has 884 square inches of cooking space, which feels tight for larger cooks, and the build is described as basic with thinner metal than older Traeger units. The main concerns are thermometer accuracy and reports of temperature swings from the control panel, so it suits cooks who want pellet convenience more than premium controls.
First-time pellet grill cooks who want set-it-and-walk-away smoking, because it holds temperature well enough for brisket and other low-and-slow cooks.
Pellet grill buyers who have been waiting for a sub-$400 entry point, because the current price is described as a strong deal versus prior pricing.
Home cooks making jerky, smoked burgers, meatloaf, or ribs, because it produces those foods well.
Shoppers who want a compact backyard smoker for small batches, because 884 square inches fits a couple pork roasts or a few rib slabs.
Pitmasters who need precise temperature control, because the thermometer can read inaccurately and the control panel can cause wild swings.
Cooks planning large briskets or bigger batch smoking, because 884 square inches is too small for more than one brisket.
Shoppers expecting a feature-rich cooker, because it is described as barebones and basic rather than truly pro.
People wanting a pellet grill that doubles as a normal grill, because it can grill food but not in the same way as a dedicated grill.

Dang, bought one for $499 on sale at home depot
Replaced my 2010 traeger big Tex.
Definitely a solid deal here. If you have ever considered a pellet smoker this is your chance.
My main frustration with it is the lack of accurate temperature readings by the thermometer. Otherwise, it's my first smoker, and we've been using it a lot the first month that we're already on our second 40lb bag of pellets.

And that pic in the demo of the guy doing normal grilling on it is a joke. You can do normal grilling on it but it's definitely not the same.
