The Traeger Pro 34 is a pellet smoker that stands out for easy set it and walk away cooking, with strong results on brisket, ribs, jerky, smoked burgers, and meatloaf. The current $379.99 price is described as a strong deal, especially since this model has often sat closer to $500. It has 884 square inches of cooking space, which feels tight for larger cooks, and the build is described as basic with thinner metal than older Traeger units. The main concerns are thermometer accuracy and reports of temperature swings from the control panel, so it suits cooks who want pellet convenience more than premium controls.
The grill can produce strong results for jerky, smoked burgers, smoked meatloaf, and ribs.
The pellet design lets cooks set a temperature and walk away while periodically checking pellets.
The unit can be worth the sale price when temperature readings are acceptable for your setup.
The smoker size is 884 square inches, which can work for small batches like pork roasts or a couple rib slabs.
The thermometer can give inaccurate temperature readings during normal use.
Temperature control can suffer from wild swings if the control panel is faulty.
The Pro 34 can feel barebones and may not match expectations for a "pro" model.
The 884 square inch cooking area can be too small for larger cooks like multiple briskets.

Dang, bought one for $499 on sale at home depot
Replaced my 2010 traeger big Tex.
Definitely a solid deal here. If you have ever considered a pellet smoker this is your chance.
My main frustration with it is the lack of accurate temperature readings by the thermometer. Otherwise, it's my first smoker, and we've been using it a lot the first month that we're already on our second 40lb bag of pellets.

And that pic in the demo of the guy doing normal grilling on it is a joke. You can do normal grilling on it but it's definitely not the same.
