I own a bunch of Anker charging stations, wall chargers, and cables and have never had an issue so I recommend looking at their options if you want something reliable. I have that one for travel, a Prime Charging Station next to me in my desk, one of these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D12JK...tle_2
2. I generally judge the brand by its braded sheath. This one doesnt make the cut. Beatus, Ugreen, Lisen are the ones i buy.

1. Fast Charging Requires a "Handshake"Modern fast charging standards—like USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) or Qualcomm Quick Charge—rely on a digital communication protocol between your charger and your phone.
- The charger asks the phone: "What voltage can you handle?"
- The phone replies: "Send me 9V at 2.22A (20W)."
- The charger adjusts its power output accordingly.
Because a splitter cable physically bridges multiple output connectors to the same input line, it cannot isolate communication signals for each device. If a phone requested 9V or 15V fast charging, that higher voltage would instantly destroy lower-power devices (like an Apple Watch or wireless earbuds) plugged into the adjacent ends. To avoid damaging electronics, these cables drop down to a basic, unnegotiated standard—usually 5V.
2. Power Division and Shared AmperageWhen multiple devices share one wall block or USB port, they split the total available current:
- Single Fast-Charge Cable: Delivers the full 20W–60W+ directly to one device.
- Multi-Splitter Cable: Shares a fixed power ceiling (often 10W–15W total across all heads).
If you plug in an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and a power bank simultaneously, that 15W total gets sliced up. Your phone might only receive 5W–7.5W, which feels like trickle-charging compared to modern fast speeds.
3. Physical Wire Gauge & Heat LimitsFast charging pushes high currents through thin copper wires, generating heat.
- Inside a multi-cable, wires must split at a junction node into 3 or 4 separate sub-cables.
- Standard thick copper traces cannot easily be run through tiny splitters without making the cable bulky, stiff, and prone to internal short circuits.
- Running 30W+ through a simple 4-way splitter block would create a major thermal hotspot near the junction.
Few multi-end cables support fast charging due to these limitations, and those that do carry a higher price tag. One such example is the Anker 2-in-1 USB C to USB C Cable, 140W Max (A8895). Looking this product up, you will notice an in-line Smart Splitter Node that houses the MCU (Microcontroller Unit) Board / Smart Power IC responsible for
- Dynamic PD Negotiation: The chip communicates with the charger to request a total high-power profile (up to 28V/5A under USB-PD 3.1). It then negotiates separate, lower power profiles down each leg to connected devices.
- First-Plug Priority & Load Balancing: The MCU monitors current draw on both legs. In the Anker cable, it prioritizes the first device plugged in and dynamically scales down power to the second device to stay within safe thermal and wattage ceilings. Additionally it monitors power draw per leg and dynamically adjusts output to prioritize a device that is still charging when the other is at capacity.
- Isolation Protection: It uses internal MOSFET switches to isolate the two output lines, ensuring a 20V–28V high-voltage supply meant for a MacBook doesn't feed directly into a phone or tablet that only requests 9V.
When looking at the cable in this post, that in-line nodule only houses the 4-to-1 split and basic negotiation IC.

No. They are insanely slow. But they charge and maybe my mistake was trying to charge phones. But for example meta cases, electric razors, Bluetooth speakers they are great for.
