(The Microcenter is about 30 mins drive one way from me.)

30 minutes equals fuel. 5% back equals savings. It's always nice to buy from brick-and-mortar, especially Micro Center, since they're so generous with their sale items and their price glitches from time to time. The solid solution is to save on the fuel, get same-day delivery for the $3.99, and have it today without driving anywhere.

9070 vs 9070 XT ? Is the extra power and cost worth it?

That's subjective. What are your demands of your graphics card? What kind of games and applications do you run? At what resolutions and frame rates? Are you willing to spend more today for a card that may or may not last you an extra year or two before you need to upgrade again?

There's always been a certain amount of uncertainty in such decisions, but in these times we live in have uncertainty clocking in at an all-time high.

You havent factor in delivery issues. If he goes to microcenter and picks up the item he knows he has it and can virtually check it in the parking lot or even inside if he wants.

On amazon if its damaged or missing its a hassle making the return. Also with amazon you have to add the potential of it being stolen from your porch.

So its just not moniteray issue, its a peace of mind issue.

Personally I would go with Micro Center. A trip to MC is always a fun time anyway. You'll get an easier return if there are any issues and you get to support a local electronics store instead of Amazon. I'm afraid of losing Micro Center and I try to buy as much from them over Amazon as I can, even though it's less convenient sometimes.

It's a 10-15% difference between the two . It's less than the difference between the PS5 and Xbox Series X. In most games the difference between the two is very subtle.

Almost certainly you can take back the 15% performance in any game by just tweaking a few settings that you wouldn't even notice the difference while just playing the game. Graphics settings have heavily diminishing returns.

Though I get it, there's two hobbies that overlap. There are hardware enthusiasts, and gaming enthusiasts. Nothing wrong with being either/both.

But IMO if OP is just a gamer, I really don't think there is any significant lifespan difference between the two. I would go for XT if it wasn't a lot more.

Not a bad deal in today's market. Computer parts are just going to continue to rise in price too!

I say just buy a used PC or game console and just wait it out. Sad times we live in when playing video games is now a rich person's hobby.

I agree with everything you have said. There's also the psychological element of it all. People think once they have spent a certain amount on a gaming PC that they need to hit a certain refresh rate or they need to hit a certain level on the graphics detail slider. Sometimes that 15 percent extra performance gets them over the hump.

There's also the value of money. A hundred dollars probably means different things to different people in this thread. Some may only need to work an hour or two to make that hundred bucks. Others may have to work all day.

Lots of variables in making a decision like this. That's why it's not always a cut and dry yes or no answer.

Personally, I never go for the crown halo products. I'm just not that hardcore of a gamer.

Ultimately, a good deal. I ended up splurging getting the Reaper XT model when MC was selling for $630, since it's the first GPU I've purchased since buying a used mining GTX 1060 in 2018 for $120. But the non-XT is the better frames/$ value, and I think I would have been very happy if I had decided on this one instead.

This card and the $350 7500x3d combo would make a great core system for someone building new.
