Technically all soccer balls have been. Unlike basketball, it isn't like the boys play with a bigger size 5 than the girls. Likely, it is in regard to the colors.

fyi, these are all the "club" tier of the ball, the lowest tier Adidas makes, they are stitched instead of thermally bonded and don't have the texture of the more expensive balls, and are kind of slick. They are decently made and hold up better than a lot of cheaper balls though.
