Heavier guitars do tend to have more sustain, so it's a double edged sword
If you are older, and want a super lightweight guitar, seek out one made of basswood. I built a 34" scale bass for a guy who had a stroke and it was for real, 5 pounds. He loves it.

The Cali Classic is the one that usually goes for $60-70 now and then. If the DLX has ever been that cheap, I missed the deal.
I've had four classics and one DLX so far. The classics were insanely great value guitars at under $70, and Fender weight or a bit lighter. I still have two of those.
I didn't weigh the DLX while I had it, but remember it being about as heavy as my Fender Precision Bass, but not super chunky like everyone else here says.
