This game could've been amazing if they kept the same linearity as the first, then it got stupid with the stupid clicker, and the cross universes.. couldn't wait to finish it and uninstall it.. the first one is a masterpiece.

Good price but not the first time it's been on sale at this price. I originally purchased October 2025 at the same price.

I like the game quite a bit. It's still one of the best looking games out here. It shares DNA with RE4 in a big way with a similar inventory and weapons system. Gameplay is basically a slower-paced version of RE4, more horror-forward with more dangerous enemy encounters, and more limited weapons that encourage a more planned, stealthy approach.

Just be aware the system requirements are still quite high, and low-powered PCs will struggle with it. It's practically unplayable on a Steam Deck, for instance.

I think criticism of the story is okay, but it really didn't stray far from the original, so if you liked AW but don't like AW2, the only thing that fundamentally changed was yourself and your expectations for storytelling. AW was just as "out there" and silly with magical "he writes it into existence" elements, so to criticize AW2 for additions to the universe and lore feels like someone just grew up over the past 15 years, and expected a more grown-up story.

It's really the same narrative conventions Remedy has used in their games since Max Payne's 4th Wall breaks and self-mockery. It's all a part of the same, "Remedy Universe," with direct tie-ins to Control, and the "Objects of Power" that bled into this game. If you hated "the Clicker," Alan's Typewriter from the original was also an Object of Power with similar magical powers. Going back and playing the original (The remastered release) before I installed and beat AW2, I really enjoyed the continuation of the story.

I love this game. My only complaint was that some of the puzzles seemed to just be there to slow you down, rather than add much to the game. But the atmosphere and story is amazing.
