Panasonic eneloop AA batteries are known for long life and steady performance, with reports of cells still charging after 15 to 16 years and 100 or more recharge cycles. The slow Eneloop chargers, especially the BQ CC17 and BQ CC55SBA, are described as helping preserve battery life, and the bundle is attractive if a charger is needed too. The price is also called the lowest in six years, though the deal is less compelling to anyone who remembers older regular pricing. A solid rechargeable AA option if longevity matters more than chasing the absolute cheapest battery.
Common Questions (5)
They can last for many years with regular use, with reports of 15-16 year-old cells still charging. One long-term user has recharged AA eneloops 100+ times with no premature cell failures, and another describes only 3-4 failures across about 30 batteries over 15 years.
At $8.95, it is described as the lowest price in 6 years and cheaper than IKEA LADDA batteries. A separate comment notes the AA price has historically hovered around $1.83-$1.90 per battery, so this is a strong sale price even if the category has been creeping up.
Yes. A slow charger is recommended to help preserve eneloops longer, and the Panasonic BQ-CC17 is specifically described as a purposefully slow charger for that reason. One setup uses about 8 hours per charge and has kept batteries going for years.
Yes. Reports describe AA eneloops still charging after 16 years, and another long-term user says they remain satisfied after years of use with no premature failures. They are repeatedly described as a very durable AA battery.
The bundle with 4 AA batteries is mentioned at $17.39, while the BQ-CC17 charger alone is listed at $22.59 on Amazon. If you need a charger too, the bundle is the better value.

I've only had about 3 or 4 Eneloops ever have a problem over the past 15 years...and I probably have about 30 total Eneloops - that get used often and recharged (maybe recharged once a month) - we just have a container full of AAA & AA Eneloops that get used as needed. We have some automatic LED lights that are on a nightly timer that need to be re-charged every week - we just change out the discharged batteries and put them on our original slow Eneloop charger and 8 hrs later the charging lights go out and the batteries are placed back into the container.
Again, SLOW charging is much better for the long-lasting life of these and you'll too have a pile of Eneloops in 10+ years that will keep you happy for having bought into the Eneloop ecosphere.
