COSCOs 5 in 1 convertible hand truck is praised as a sturdy, versatile mover for boxes, cases of water, furniture, and bulky items, with the newer extendable handle and added middle bars making it more flexible than older versions. The aluminum frame and cart mode get strong marks for usefulness, and the older design has held up for years, even with heavy use. The main knocks are that the handle extension is modest, the cart platform can feel smaller than expected, and the no flat wheels and small front casters can be noisy and less smooth than air tires. It looks like a practical upgrade if the newer features fit your hauling needs.

  • The hand truck can handle bulky boxes and cases for occasional warehouse-style use over years.

  • The extendable handle option can add convenience when the extra reach is actually needed.

  • The cart platform can support stacking items without breaking as easily as smaller steel platforms.

  • The in-store pricing can be lower than the online price, which may improve the effective deal value.

  • Instacart checkout can reduce the effective cost through credits and an additional discounted gift card.

  • The extendable handle extension is limited to only about three to six inches.

  • The cart mode angled handles can reduce usable space for boxes compared with expectations.

  • The flat-free no-flat wheels can be noisier and less smooth than pneumatic air tires.

  • The cart length can feel about six inches short for shipping and tool-box use cases.

Why did they brand this as costco and not using their kirkland signature name?
Cosco (no T) is a totally different company.

I bought this last year and it has come in handy so many times. Definitely recommend. By the way it was $99 when I bought it a year ago so thanks inflation
This is a newer and slightly different version. It just came out within the last few months.

Indeed. The company behind the Cosco brand is decades older than Costco Wholesale.

I can't imagine convertible hand truck technology has greatly improved in a year.

If you need one of these I guess it's probably the best price now but the price isn't that great.

I bought my first Cosco hand truck from Costco around 2014, it may have been Price Club at that time. I have beaten and abused the crap out of it, and left it outside in the elements such that there is some rust on parts of it. It still is very usable, but I think the features on this newer model, plus the sale price, is worth buying for me.

What is the length from base plate to the top where the silver aluminum ends by the handles?

I bought Gen 1 and Gen 2 (not much difference) of these at Costco to fit in the back of vehicle. This newer model looks like a huge change. Not in a good way. Cheaper. Pneumatic air tires help flow over things so much better. The no-flat aren't for me. Some no-flat are just noisy. The length for these Cosco flat cart always seems six inches short for the things I move around and stuff brought to ups store to ship. And moving extruded plastic tool boxes to job sites. Yea this is for homeowner Jane and her grocery bags of celery for juicing. But once you find you need that extra length for moving, that annoyance will always be there. I hate the small hard front castors. Noisy as hell over every little crack and bump on cement and asphalt. It's good they added the two bars in the middle to help hold smaller items that generally fall through.

This hand truck is a WORK HORSE! Moved a whole 3 bedroom home with the last generation of this thing and made moving huge, bulky, and heavy items so easy. Could not recommend this enough!

Anyone know how well this model works on stairs? It looks like it might actually perform worse than my normal 2-wheel dolly, but really want to upgrade.

I believe the extendable handles are the difference. If you already got one for $100 last year, then no, it's probably not worth the extra $20. But if you missed out, I think it's a pretty damn good deal.

I also purchased mine back then. I remember the sale price was around $75.

I'd have to disagree. I've been waiting years for a price decrease on these so I could justify/get another because it so easy and helpful. but it never goes down because it's so easy and helpful and well-made. It's not the cheap stuff that fluctuates all the time and typically breaks down within a year.

It should be $120 nationwide. It began yesterday though so maybe the store just hadn't updated their signage?
