Just a FYI. This is Solid Albacore Tuna and it's a much higher quality tuna than the last tuna deal that was chunk light tuna (aka Skipjack tuna) for $12 for 24 cans. It's still canned and and all canned tuna is grossly overcooked but it's still a much better quality tuna. If you want better quality, buy your Albacore tuna in foil pouches. They don't go through the same heating process canned tuna goes through. Still more than necessary but far less than canned so It's the better option. Of course nothing beats fresh from the fish market but we aren't all that lucky enough to live near the ocean so buy pouch if you want the least overcooked tuna you pathetic inlanders can get off the shelf.

I think the general recommended is to limit 1 can of albacore a week and 2 cans of regular chunk light tuna a week.

Also this is albacore in oil (not water/broth).

Regular chunk light tuna, AKA skipjack AKA the lowest grade Tuna available for human consumption. Outside of mercury content Albacore is many times better in every other facet over skipjack, most importantly texture and taste. I think 99% of all skipjack pulled out of the ocean gets canned. They don't sell it as an entree at seafood restaurants like you can albacore and it's hard to find at a fish market because it's a trash fish. It's bottom of the barrel tuna. The meat is brown and mushy. If you eat sushi, they'll serve you raw albacore, it's pretty good. Raw skipjack? Nope. don't even think about it. the meat is mushy and brown. If you can find it, it always comes in cooked dishes. Skipjack is so trash, they don't even waste time farm raising it and thats why nearly 100% of skipjack is wild caught. Which brings me to another thing. Don't be fooled into thinking wild caught skipjack is better because nearly 100% of skipjack is wild caught. You couldn't find farm raised skipjack if you tried. How do you know if its skipjack or not? If it doesn't clearly say Albacore on the can, it's skipjack.

I'm actually curious if there has been a species of fish changed for chunk white or a processing change over the years. Or maybe I'm just misremembering. It just seemed like years ago Chunk Light was flakier (certainly not compared to chunk or solid alabcore but still had more texture compared to what I've seen over the past few years).
