This is mostly for people who don't eat meat. Red meat, pork, poultry, fish (like cod and sardines), eggs, and dairy products (particularly parmesan cheese) are naturally rich in this, and generally all essential amino acids.

Just a note, some amino acids are most effective taken on an empty stomach so that it doesn't compete with other proteins.

Thanks for the info; rep given. I was thinking about repurposing these as a supplement for stray kitties to boost their immune system by grinding up a tablet in their food. But seems like lysine is no longer recommended for augmenting cat immunity; at least according to Copilot AI.

Apparently 500mg day is the max to give a feline and it will be harmless but ineffective. I'm a bit disappointed as I heard nothing but good things about lysine when it comes to cats and how it can be an excellent way to help with runny noses, watery eyes and respiratory issues and keeps them generally healthy. Perhaps it's not a good idea grinding up strange substances in food for felines without having a greater understanding of lysine in the first place though...
