2Ah batteries absolutely have their place. For quick jobs, I'd rather use a lighter battery that keeps the tool comfortable in my hand instead of carrying around the extra weight of a larger pack.

Gotcha, I guess other than one of their flashlights I don't want to own their tools that would work with a 2ah battery. For hedges, trimmers, leaf blowers, 2ah is not enough. Perhaps a drill would be fine with the 2ah but then again some of their "deals" already include a 2ah battery so going out of one's way to specifically buy them is unwarranted.

I have the 40v fan topper and light topper from previous slickdeals ($10 ea) and absolutely love the 2ah 40v for them. The 2ah battery absolutely has a place for certain use cases like those or small jobs.

Also I bought this on the previous $119 sale (https://slickdeals.net/f/19757232-ryobi-one-18v-40v-starter-kit-with-1-18v-2ah-battery-1-40v-2ah-battery-and-dual-platform-hyper-charger-119?v=1). Unfortunately Home Depot customer service would not do a price adjustment, however they would let me return/rebuy...

For fans and other items that don't require much power I would suggest people to save their money and wait. There will be a deal in the future of a tool they want that will include a 2ah battery.

Based on past deals, this is solid. Good for shorter jobs were you want to save some weight. The dual charger is also nice.

2Ah is plenty for 40v. I routinely run my string trimmer and only use about 30% of the 4Ah. There are also other times when I'm using my chainsaw and have to wait to finish while I recharge the 4Ah when I just need 5 more minutes. Just bc you can't fathom a use doesn't mean there isn't one. This is an excellent supplement to a 4Ah and the dual charger saves on space.

Honestly, it runs about even with this. Value the charger at about $30, so these batteries are $60. The 4Ah pack comes to $130. Both are good for the price. I'm set for 4Ah in both areas, so being able to replace two normal chargers with one fast charger as well as have some lighter batteries for small jobs or finishing up medium ones is a win. Both are good, though.

If it was a 6.0 18v and a 4.0 40v id be all over it. Not really interested in 18v 1.5/2.0/4.0. Give me 6.0 baby!!!

I guess I've been doing it wrong and my whole world has been a lie for the past 13 years. The house I did tons of work on with 2ah batteries and sold a few years ago is probably going to fall down and kill the occupants any moment now. 2-3 screws and you're done with a 2ah battery, but with a 4ah you get 10x the use and you're good all day! 🙄
2ah batteries aren't great for long sessions with high-draw tools, but I still use them in my drill and impact all the time because they're lighter, even though I have a bunch of 4ah batteries. And I like my 2ah 40V battery for use with my string trimmer, since it's already unbalanced and heavy enough.

Who uses an 18 volt hedge trimmer or blower. Especially blower unless you're blowing dust and light dirt. I have a 40 volt blower is 800 CFM and that one kicks butt but these 18 volt ones they must last like 5 minutes

The two amp hours are good for small jobs and for small tools. Flashlights, the inverter occasionally, that sort of thing. The charger is the real gem, and this price is cheaper with the batteries than the charger alone without them. 25 minute to amp hour charging charges a 6 amp hour battery in under an hour and a half with active cooling.

Me. Among other Ryobi blowers, I have the first gen. 18V brushless string trimmer, the brushed 40V Expand-It trimmer, the 40V brushless Expand-It trimmer, and three of the 40V blowers including the 730 CFM and 800 CFM. I literally never use the 40V trimmers because the 18V is plenty strong enough for my lawn. While I mostly use the 40V blowers, the 18V blowers that I have are fine for many jobs including the one that I modified to clean my gutters. I can't imagine holding a 40V blower with a 6Ah battery over my head to do all of my gutters.
