The Anker SOLIX S2000 stands out as a compact, efficient 2,010Wh portable power station that works especially well for UPS backup and time of use load shifting. The low idle draw, high inverter efficiency, and 35 to 36 pound weight make it unusually portable for its capacity, and the app, Storm Guard, and fast switchover add real utility. It can run fridges, window air conditioners, and other household loads for backup or peak shaving. Main drawbacks are the 1,500W to 1,800W output ceiling, 400W solar input, no 12V output, and a fan that can get loud under load. It is a strong fit when efficiency and size matter more than raw output.

  • The inverter idles under 6W and reaches about 96% efficiency, which can extend runtime between charges.

  • The unit supports UPS-style switchover with UL1778 certification, which can help protect sensitive electronics during outages.

  • The Storm Guard feature can top up to 100% after weather warnings, which can improve readiness during storms.

  • The S2000 can run a side-by-side refrigerator for about 16 hours while showing roughly 42% battery remaining.

  • The fan can be unusually loud or growly under load, which can be a dealbreaker for quiet operation.

  • The Storm Guard charging behavior can jump to 1600W regardless of the selected charge rate, which can trip breakers when multiple units run together.

  • The TOU mode requires a 2.4GHz WiFi connection and can fall back to UPS mode if WiFi disconnects, which can disrupt peak-period switching.

  • The AC output limit of 1500W can be weaker than some competitors that offer around 2600W continuous output.

Why do they design these with no handle on top to carry around. When I'm lugging around a 35lb battery I don't care how sleek the design looks

Eh, back to it's normal price
How low does this go? Seems like a great price for this capacity and the price history only shows a range of $1.50.

It's 35.7lbs and designed for 2-handed carrying with built-in room on each side to carry it. I prefer not having a dedicated handle on top since I wouldn't move this around all that much and it's nice having a flat top to rest charging phones, etc. on.

I hate these "via best buy" posts when i'm trying to search specifically for things AT best buy

Sucks that every store has turned into a marketplace type setup :|

Looking for one of these that is easy to hook a homemade battery pack up to for extra power..

It was only released about a month ago - they had a '90 day' price match for Anker Solix direct customers, so it probably won't be lower than 598 they debuted the thing with a 'special' offer until Sept.

Maybe Black Friday we'll see it at 575 or 550 but I don't expect it to be more than that - it's a rather hot item right now and it'll be a while before there are comparable options out there (re: efficiency, footprint, etc.).

I have x2 myself. They're fantastic for UPS use (I get ToU next year and they'll also manage that).Just watch the Storm Guard - when it kicks on it'll automatically go to 1600W charge; two of them in a room will trip my breakers. Pretty sure they'll sort that in a software/firmware update, however.
Pardon my naïveté... but what does UPS and ToU mean?

Maybe dumb question but is this better\worse\same as a similarly priced computer UPS? Is it the ability to charge with solar that's differentiates it from a 'regular' computer UPS? If no difference that's ok I'm wondering if I should consider this type of power backup instead.
Not a dumb question at all. These are one of the few units with switchover UPS certification, UL1778.

They make fantastic UPSs in my opinion - far easier to monitor, have a solid 8 to 10 times battery life and a whopping x5+ life cycle if you're unlucky and can't replace the lead acid batteries on your UPS (board failures, etc. I was going through a UPS every 2 to 3 years). This will handle more wattage than most UPSs, and have vampire draw / idle at 1/3 to 1/6th of that of a UPS of that size. My S2000 replaced two big 1500VA UPSs and I should be making up those funds in no more than two years. That's before Time-of-Use costs from my electrical provider that kick in next year and I suspect it'll save me another 75 to 125 USD per unit as it'll discharge during peak hours and charge during off-peak (plus it has a storm guard function that will top up to 100% if it gets a weather warning).

What power stations as UPSs (and 99% of all other brands) don't have:

I don't think it has great surge protection, no power station does though, and that is easily remedied by putting a good surge protector between that and the wall.

No wired monitoring (useful for automatons, auto-shut offs, etc.) [excluding one from Ecoflow but I returned that given other issues and it's a much lower class/wattage]. The Anker app is top notch though and allows me to do a lot more than I ever could with a constantly shifting UPS and computer set of shifts that would frequently not have the automatons work at the end of the day.

They don't have AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulation), but I think AVR is very overrated for consumer UPSs. Consumer AVR can't be set and it generally clamps at 88V on the low end and 140V on the high end. You can put a voltage protector for the battery to take over that works just as well IMO. (Bluettis have this built in, but it's extra confusing and I haven't put those through the paces yet)

I'll stick a 15 USD device that I can set the low voltage at 100 to 110V and the high at 130V which I think is better than AVR I can't set.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FNWCWSC6

That has surge protection as well, but I still put one of my trip-lite surge strips in between as I'm protecting pretty expensive equipment.

* So I very much recommend it, but I should say that AVR UPSs have been the gold standard for decades - I've worked in IT for a very long time and know the risks involved with trying new tech out; if it's crazy expensive / important, a solid (top of the line) UPS is the tried-and-true solution for most people.

I agree that it's a poor design decision.

They don't sell them yet, but I got the official carry case from Anker with one of my units given a snafu and it has a great handle on it (the case can live on the unit if it must).

I thought my biggest complaint was going to be the handles but it's not as bad I as I thought it would be.

The big issue is the fan noise sucks when it is under load - absolutely louder than all my other power stations. Hopefully something they can mitigate on the next manufacturing run as while I won't do it to void warranty, I'm sure a rubber gasket and slightly higher quality fan could make it sound x100 better.

UPS = Uninterruptible Power Supply. UPSs are recommended to have between the wall and sensitive equipment, especially if you're on a power grid that goes out or has things like brownouts. UPSs are based on lead acid batteries though and have a short shelf life, can only power things about 1/20th of this power station, etc. etc. If you have a solid computer (laptops are fine for the most part) you want a UPS - or if you've spent a bit on a TV and entertainment system you should also consider having a UPS.

ToU = Time of Use. A.k.a. 'peak' and 'off-peak' electrical rates, where you may be paying .50 cents for 4 to 8 hours per kWh during peak and .30 cents for the rest of the day. These power stations will charge at the lower/off-peak rates and use the battery instead of drawing from the grid during peak rates.

I bought this last week and am in the middle of testing it out on powering my side-by-side refridgerator. It has been powering it for about 16 hours and the battery is currently showing as 42% remaining. During this time we've opened it a few times, dispensed water, etc. so I think it's doing pretty well.

Coupon code 'POWER10' takes 10% off at Outbound Power to bring it down to $540+tax.

The weight and idle draw is insanely good for a 2kwh class battery. Too bad the AC power output of 1500w is pretty puny compared to competitors. The Bluetti Elite 200 can output 2600w continuous compared to 1500w of the Solix S2000.

Fantastic deal if the wattage limit is not a problem for you.

Why is this a deal? Confused

1x USB-C (15W max)
1x USB-A (12W max).
Why add these at all bad design wasted real estate.

5 plugs waste maybe do 2 and let us daisy chain because they use better wiring like low gauge copper wires instead is much better.

Also no 12v dc outlet wasting energy that doesn't need ac. Main issue tested ecoflow 12v cig wastes energy because it can't run a vehicle cooler wtf. And throws error on startup because it panics when it spikes by 0.5 sec and drops it can't handle shit
