One of my absolute favorites is the 16' X 1" blade Komelon 3516.

Most times when I am a doing carpentry I am not framing and do not need a 25' footer and find the bulk and weight of them irritating. The 3516 is compact and light yet still has the heavy 1" blade that will reach. They are small enough to drop in front pocket and have all smooth rounded edges that do not catch when coming out of pouch or pocket. The look plasticky but I dropped many from great height and never broke one.
It is not on sale but not a bad price. Many many years ago Walmart always had these in store for $6 but $10 is not bad considering I am talking decades ago. I looked a while back online and they were not many available and running twenty+ and I just passed.
They have similar one but it looks a bit bulkier but is only $9

Jokes aside, I agree with you. Just got this tape a couple of days ago. It's not even inch-decimal, it's foot-decimal. So like 0.1 ft, 0.2, 0.3 and so on
