The simplest way to clean the toilet tank is to use citric acid powder (yes it is also a cooking ingredient) and warm water. Do NOT use hot boiling water. It will crack porcelain. Turn off supply water. Flush. Pour a cup of citric acid powder. Pour warm water to fill the tank. Wait an hour. It will clean the tank amd repeat twice if there are tough stains. This cleans but doesn't prevent like the product mentioned here.

Sounds less far less "simple" and expensive than $3 here. $8 for "citric acid powder" or $2.64 for this?

Personal experience, I have well water and this product works great for keeping my push button toilets operating well (internals not sticking due to mineral build up). Inside of tank looks basically new after using as well. I guess I could do the simple method of many steps, non standard ingredients, heating water, needlessly turning off supply lines, etc...or just pour this in at night and flush in the morning. Can't decide Wink

I like using a soft pumice stone. Cleans everything right up, no matter what it is. I tried all sorts of chemicals on my hard water toilet stains, nothing worked very well. A pumice stone is the key.
