Sony just broke the ice, and people are furious - but in 2028 when people are hovering over that "buy digital" button and wanting to hold strong to their convictions, 99% will cave, because they want to play and have no other choice. Sony and every other platform will win, and ten years from now it will be the norm and most people will have forgotten or not care about the freedom and true rights of ownership they lost.

Honestly imo Nintendo keeping physicals going is still a good thing, although I worry how long GKCs will remain downloadable. Nintendo got a ton of bad rep and misinfo like "All Nintendo games are GKC" because they were transparent about it, meanwhile Sony did the same garbage right under everyone's noses. Sony didn't get enough hate back then, people are now noticing something's wrong when they announce physicals are going away completely! Moral of the story, none of the corpos are your friend, I guess. For the time being, you can play the GKC through to the end and sell it to avoid dead weight in the far future.
