I have a similar 9000 series model and blades last about 2 years before needing replacement. I upgrade my Norelco (now Philips) every 10 years and they last even longer. The only thing I am not impressed with is the nose/ear trimmer... Conair makes the best trimmer for that.

I just bought the dollar shave club rechargeable one for $30 and the first try was really good. Fast silent cut, a lot less tugging than the others before. In my limited use I'd say it's worth the premium... for now.
