I believe it's been that price at MCs for a couple weeks now. Personally, I'm holding up for a better deal, closer to the $600 mark.

I don't pretend to predict the future, but 3 weeks ago MC had this exact card for $630. My guess is, it'll go back down to that price at least. And I'm not even going to talk about the Walmart $550 deal for the Gigabyte model...

I am not familiar with video card brands besides nvidia... Is powercolor a good reliable brand? I see few bad feedbacks on amazon, about being doa, crashes, glitches, software issues and breaks and stuff.. is it ok to buy this brand, or better wait for other deals, like asus or pny or something else?

Atleast from this article it seems like powercolor is slightly above average when it comes to "amount of defects within the first 24 months" only being 1.2%. https://www.tomshardware.com/news...lure-rates

But ive also seen another souce on reddit saying powercolor actually does very poor https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comm...de_for_rx/

On the microcenter page it does say it comes with a 2 year warranty though.

For people who actually pay for their own energy and live in a HCOL area, the 4070S and 5070 are way more power efficient than the 9070xt.

At 0.50 kwh, 12 hours a day of average use, the 9070 xt uses $180 more per year. I've had the 4070S for 2 years now which is $360 saved, one more year and it pays for itself.

I undervolted the 4070S also, so its a moot point if both are getting undervolted.

Just using easier numbers instead of super specifics.
Computer is on 24/7, running 4-6 emulators for ~10 hours a day, then maybe 4 hours of gaming.

Yah I knew the 9070xt has better raw numbers but the power savings drew me in as I pay for my own energy and live in a VHCOL area.

And a non-XT 9070 is more efficient in terms of raster frames / watt than both the 4070S and 5070. So your argument is kind of silly.

Ok almost seems like you are a fanboy which I have dealt with for the past few decades. I have no loyalty to computer oems, whichever brings out the best product the meets my needs I go with them. Athon Xp's were my jam back in the day.

9070 draws 50% more power on idle than a 4070S and a bit more during load. So the 4070S works for me. Especially at the time of GPU shortages in 2024, my friend hooked me up for $500, so it was a no brainer.

They both have their pros and cons.

Yes, the 9070 non-XT is quite power efficient. It depends a bit on what you're looking at. In terms of FPS/W in gaming, it's usually near the top of the pile: https://gamersnexus.net/gpus/incr...conclusion

AMD had some bugs with idle power draw when RDNA 4 came out but it seems mostly fixed (some people still have issues, like certain Linux configs or combinations of high refresh monitors without VRR on).

The reddit link is 6Y old information 3 generations back. Keep that in mind.

The agreed best AIBs are PowerColor, Sapphire and XFX.
