I have a breville express that I payed $600 for. I have dialed down my machine so well that I now pull shots that taste better than 95% of the cafes I ever been to. I can't imagine how much better the shots will be with a $3000 dollar machine. But I suspect like most things in life, there's always someone with expendable money to buy something that isn't worth the money.

I have a Barista Pro that I got from a friend a while back. He thought it was busted because it wasn't working properly, but he went over a year without using it so all it needed was a good thorough cleaning. It's more machine than I could handle lol.

Having said that, I can absolutely see people paying this much for a machine even though I personally wouldn't as I'm only a semi-coffee snob Smilie. I have my own stupidity I spend money on that other people think I'm crazy for lol.

If you have the budget and patience for maintenance on these machines, they are worth it,

Googled after taking a guess why something like this could be priced well above a Breville... and was right/internals are a bit more premium/built for heavy use... ontop of one button convenience coffee machine/vs having to dial anything in.

For anyone running a busy household or even a small/medium office, this Jura super‑automatic is in a different league than typical Breville home machines. Jura designs these for heavy daily use with Swiss‑engineered internals, automatic cleaning cycles, and backwards‑compatible parts, and real‑world data puts average lifespan close to a decade with proper maintenance. At $2,999 after coupon you're still paying a premium, but you're getting one‑touch espresso/latte/cappuccino, less staff training, and way fewer "why isn't the machine working?" moments compared to a semi‑auto setup. Definitely not a casual kitchen toy, but for offices that would otherwise be burning through cheaper machines (or sending people out for coffee), this starts to make sense as a long‑term convenience play.

I'm not ordering one myself/perfectly happy with my refurbished ninja luxe/from a prior slickdeals for now.

Last summer we stayed in an airb&b that had one of these machines. It was amazing. The coffee was delicious and it was soooo easy to use. Sadly the price is out of my range but after that experience, I get why people buy these machines.

I got one new from Bergdorf Goodman 3 years ago around BF stacking 3 different promotions, ended up paying around 2400 all said and done. It's been an awesome machine. I use it about 2-3 times every single day, has never had an issue. Just descale with the tablets (that you can get from 3rd party) and run the cleaning cycle when asked. I will say that the straight espresso quality is not amazing, I compared it with a Miele that's about $1500 and the Miele made a better straight shot. But the milk drink quality on the Jura blew the Miele out of the water and that's about all I drink.

As others have said, this is a beastly machine designed for high volumes like an office building. Way overkill for home use imo.

You have a manual machine. This is a superautomatic. It'll give you an excellent shot of espresso within 30 seconds of it turning on without any mess. I use to use a manual and loved it. Now that I've switched to a superautomatic I weep for all the time I wasted making and cleaning up espresso...

Pretty sure one would still have to clean this machine as well. Empty coffee grinds, descale, empty water wastage bin, etc.

That happens less than once a month.

That's reassuring. I have a KitchenAid KF7 that I got through Inside Pass at 50% discount. It has the ~same internals as the Miele. I just use it for the espresso shots and froth my own milk with a small French press, which gives incredible microfoam.

That's honestly impressive. I have a Barista Pro and I'm still very much in the trial-and-error stage.

Would you mind sharing your setup? Like what beans you use, what grind setting, dose, shot time, etc.? I've been using Lavazza Super Crema with the built-in grinder around 12-14 (seems to change depending on the bag), and my shots are decent but nowhere near "better than 95% of cafes."

I've watched so many YouTube videos that it's honestly overwhelming because everyone says something different. I'd much rather hear what actually works from someone who's dialed in the same brand of machine.

I dont have a Barista Pro, but a Bambino Plus + Niche Zero grinder (as well as a Jura Z10). Generally speaking you want to measure out how many grams your dose is (typically 15-18g is standard), and aim for 2x -3x output (so somewhere between 30g-45g of espresso out), in about 35 seconds. These are the standard ratios for a double shot espresso. You will want to tweak one thing at a time (grind size, dose, and timing) and try to get to your own favorite cup. Asking about his setting doesnt really help you, as you will probably be using different beans, different water hardness (yes it matters), and most importantly have different taste preference. Lavazza Super Crema is ok as a budget bean option, but it's mass produced and probably won't be that fresh by the time you get it, so I'd temper your expectations about beating 95% cafes (especially good ones that use fresh beans).

z10 owner here, had it for ~3 years. I highly recommend it. It is a great machine and I would buy one again. The big feature of the Z10 over the E8 is the ability to brew room temp espresso. It is good for things like espresso martinis or if you like espresso over ice without the ice melting. If that is not something you want/use you can save a few $ and get the E8. My only minor complaint with the Z10 is that the touch screen is a bit touchy and it is easy to accidentally brew a beverage. It just takes a little bit to learn where to tap and where not to tap, and remember to always tap the dots on the bottom of the screen, do not try to swipe left/right!!

Maintenance is very easy. The screen tells you when maintenance is needed. The bottom drawer pulls out to dump the grounds and waste water. You run a cleaning tablet through it about once a month and run a cleaning cycle on the water tank every few weeks. If you make milk drinks, it comes with a self cleaning bin and hose, you just put the cleaning pellets in the bin, connect the hose and tell it to run the clean cycle. Very easy.

Prior to buying the z10 I went through two of the Phillips/Saeco Super automatic machines. The first one lasted 5 years, the second lasted about 4. Both Phillips/Saeco machines had an expensive part break in them where the parts cost almost as much as the machine. We drink a lot of coffee and this time I decided to get a better machine. The coffee quality was noticeably better on the Jura vs the Phillips/Saeco.

If you are unsure, buy this machine or any other Jura machine. Your mornings will be much better! ☕️

I use Blue Orchid from Huckleberry roasters out in Colorado. They roast day of shipping or close to. My machine setting is 6 on the grinder (but the internal bore is also adjusted 4 units to the left). 18 grams in to 40~ grams out at 35~ seconds or so. But its very hard to say if you'll find the same success because I use prepping tools and go by experience (visual observation).

I guess it sounds complicated but in the end I have a shot that has great crema, not bitter, not sour. Muy excellent.
