I got the ThermoMaven X2 the other day for $40 and besides being cheaper it seems like the better device IMO. The fancier P2 has too many tradeoffs for Wi-Fi connectivity.

The P2 has a range of 500ft b/w the base and nodes. The X2 has a range of 3,000 feet and better wall penetration.

The P2 has a battery life of 24 hours. The X2 has a battery life of 80 hours.

The P2 base has 4 buttons. The X2 has 9 buttons and is clearly easier to set.

I really don't need my meat thermometer to connect to the internet. And I've had way too many products in recent years start demanding a paid subscription to use features that were previously included. My X2 cannot connect to the internet. No private equity firm can buy ThermoMaven and push an OTA update that locks the alarm feature behind a subscription.

ThermoMaven P2 is a smart wireless meat thermometer that stands out for accurate readings and solid smoking and grilling performance. The probes have matched ice water within about 1 degree, tracked smoker and ambient temperatures well, and produced great brisket and roast results. The app and smart features are useful, though the interface is less polished than Meater. Range and battery life are also a concern, with reports of signal loss through foil and a 500 foot base to probe range, so it fits best when the base can stay close to the cook.

  • The thermometer can work well for brisket and other BBQ sessions after setup.

    leowhoapaulk11087

  • The thermometer can deliver accurate temperature readings during home ambient checks and smoker ambient matching.

    TensePenguin1843

  • The probes can stay closely aligned in ice water and provide consistent readings during roasting.

    treau

  • The checkout promo code can apply successfully when the correct promotional balance option is selected.

    hkmlgb

  • The probe connection can drop when the roast is placed in a foil pan with foil covering the top.

    treau

  • The app experience can feel less polished than competing options even when temperature accuracy is strong.

    mrShortcut

  • The thermometer can face long-term compatibility risk if software updates cause incompatibility over time.

    madmax718

  • Some units can arrive defective from Amazon deals, indicating potential quality control issues.

I bought one of these earlier and have been very pleased with it. Used it in the smoker and on the grill. Wish I had bought one sooner.

I can't tell if these comments are bs or not. If you go to Amazon recent reviews, there's a lot of negative comments but on here it's a golden probe.

It has a 4.4 on Amazon, and the recent reviews are pretty much in line with that. Not sure what you mean.

I got this a while back. I had an issue with one probe was throwing a temperature warning even though I was nowhere close to a temp that should have triggered it. They replaced the probe within a week. The app UI isn't as good as the meater I tried, but I finally this one is more accurate.

Planned obsolence .kinda like my innova. Your only one software revision away from incompatibility.

I've bought 2 thermomaven products from Amazon that were deals on here and both were defective on arrival. Quality seems lacking.

If you're getting this upset about how slickdeals posts are being flagged as new or not, it's time to touch grass
