If your car takes dot 3, use that. It can handle more moisture for those that like to go for longer change intervals. Dot 4+ for mad max drivers.

Moisture Absorption Rates

DOT 3: Absorbs water slightly slower over time (about 1–2% per year), meaning it takes longer to contaminate.
DOT 4: Absorbs moisture from the air a bit faster due to its chemical makeup.

Boiling Point Performance with Moisture (Wet Boiling Point)

DOT 3: Has a lower wet boiling point of around 284°F (140°C), meaning it loses braking effectiveness sooner once water contaminates the system.
DOT 4: Has a higher wet boiling point of around 311°F (155°C), giving it a safer buffer against brake fade even after absorbing water.
