There is a soft pad that touches screen and when you press ring button it seems to simulate touching screen to turn pages. No physical movement of device that is attached to screen

Every time you see a product and don't understand it's purpose, realize there's a thriving community of accessibility focused products designed for people who don't have the same capabilities as you. Not everyone has the hand strength or dexterity to hold a kindle while tapping the screen. Has nothing to do with laziness.
