Mad Max is a polished open world brawler with Arkham style hand to hand combat and satisfying car fights, all wrapped in a strong wasteland atmosphere. It runs smoothly on Steam Deck and even on older hardware, and the game still looks good. The price makes it feel like a steal, with plenty of content for the money. The main drawbacks are repetition, a slow start, and some grind if you chase completion. A solid pick if you want a fun, well optimized road warrior romp.
The deal price is repeatedly described as worth the money and a no-brainer purchase.
The game runs very well on Steam Deck and stays smooth on aging hardware.
The car combat feels satisfying and the overall gameplay is well optimized.
The atmosphere and overall polish stand out even for players not focused on timed button combat.
The combat can feel repetitive and heavily timing/QTE based, which may not suit everyone.
Dust storms can be a nuisance during play.
Completionist salvage runs can become a serious grind compared with sticking to story missions.
The game can start slow and the car may feel underpowered until upgrades arrive.

FWIW, I still played happily for a dozen hours before getting bored, I was about 1/3 of the game. Got my $'s worth and plenty of content left to go.
P.S. Rage 2 is probably one of the all time great open world / RPG FPS games. It just does everything perfectly, yet gets very little attention.
That said, I have not yet finished the game, since i'm doing a completionist run to complete all the salvage spots. However, I'm at the final chapter, in Gastown, so I expect to finally finish it this year. I would not recommend anyone do a completiont run, as it is a serious grind. Just stick to the story and the missions, and you will have fun. The hand to hand system is very Arkham-like, while the vehicle combat is a very interesting hybrid that I can't find an easy comparison to. The world is massive, with some interesting locales, but there is a lot of sand and wasteland. It fits the Mad Max world well (of which I am a big fan) but can be a bit boring to drive through at times.
This game is my current record holder by a long shot, at around 4 cents per hour of entertainment. Compare that to a movie (or pretty much anything) and this is some seriously cheap entertainment.
Amazing game, the look and feel is only topped by The Road Warrior. As Max you struggle to fight large groups, have to manage your water level, and often walk through the badlands because enemies destroyed your clunker. Buy it now!
