This Gaialoop 3 inch dual layer memory foam mattress is best framed as a comfortable camping and guest bed pad, especially for car camping or use on a cot. The cot size feels pretty comfortable and not very firm, with enough support for a 130 pound side sleeper to avoid bottoming out. The rolled up mattress is still large, so it is less suited to backpacking or other space tight trips. It is not a crash mat and should not be treated as fall protection for climbing or gymnastics.

Common Questions (5)

  • No. A 3-inch foam sleeping mattress is not dense enough for a ~6-foot fall and can compress too much, so purpose-built crash mats for climbing or gymnastics are the safer choice.

  • It worked for some orders, including cot and twin XL sizes at the listed sale prices, but it did not apply for at least one checkout attempt on the 75" x 30" version. If the code fails, the deal may depend on size or timing.

  • Yes. It works well on camping cots or as an extra guest bed and is described as much more suitable for car camping than backpacking. It is also large even when rolled up, so it is not a compact carry option.

  • Yes, it can be a practical alternative because it avoids air leaks and is comfortable for sleepovers on carpet. The cot-size version is reported as supportive enough that a 130 lb side sleeper does not bottom out.

  • The listing claims OEKO-TEX and CertiPUR-US certification, but the expected tags or IDs may not be present on the product, and the brand is reportedly not listed in the CertiPUR-US directory. That makes the certification claim worth verifying after delivery.

I have a couple of these that I pair with some camping cots. They make a really comfortable sleeping surface for camping or if you need an extra bed for a guest. This is a great deal on these. Definitely more appropriate for car camping than any type of primitive/backpacking. It's large even when rolled up.
this is not for backpacking?

I want to put this under and indoor climbing wall for my little girls. I tried a tumbling mat but it was like landing on concrete. Do you this work for a 5yo falling ~6 feet? Just trying to prevent a broken arm without spending a fortune
Would not recommend for this use.

As a fellow dad to a very strong and brave girl, from experience, even a 6" foam pad was not nearly enough. I don't understand how they're different, but crash pads really are different. Six feet drop onto a 6" foam mattress pad and we had to get her to the doctor, luckily there was no breakage just a lot of bruising. Six feet onto a crash mat and she's back to climbing in seconds.

Every inflatable air mattress I have gotten leaks. Is this a viable alternative for kids who will basically sleep on anything? It would be used mainly for sleepovers sleeping on carpet.

foam pad here is used for comfort and molding to your body. It isn't nearly as dense as the foam in crash pads which are meant to maintain a certain form and have rebound. You wouldn't want a sleeping pad to have that level of rebound as most would find in hard to sleep on.
